Frequently Asked Questions

Whether your looking for a tool around the home or garden Abbott's can provide you with a large variety of equiptment, from cement mixers to cake tins. All our prices include VAT, and we guarantee that they are highly competitive in the hire market. All our equiptment is industrial quality and are regularly tested and maintained to industry standards.
 
We always strive to keep our rates and bookings as flexible to the customer as possible so if your looking, to hire an item for a duration not listed, please contact us and we will endevor to help you.

Q: What are the hire rates?

Day Hire - Is 24 hours from the time you pick up the item (Excluding Saturdays)

Extra Day - A extra 24 hours.

Week Hire - A full 7 days hire.

Weekend Hire - From midday Friday to midday on Monday (3 days)

As we are closed on Sundays, any ‘Day Hire’ items collected on Saturday would need to be returned by 16.30 on Saturday (half an hour before closing). If not a weekend hire rate would need to be charged.

Q: ​What is included in the hire price?
Unlike other hire companies the price you see is the price you pay. All our prices include VAT, and there are no extra disclaimer charges. Also we don’t charge for wear on diamond discs & core bits. Also all our petrol items include the fuel you use (apart from the generator)

Q: What do I need if I want to hire?
A: We would ask you to provide a form of I.D. This would be anything that contains your name and address. The best form of indentification would be either a passport or a photographic drivers licence. however we will except a household bill, a NHS or military personal card. If in doubt call us in advance.

Q: Should I pre-book items?
A: It is always a good idea to pre-book items to avoid disappointment, as we may be fully booked at busy times. All items hired in our Seaton store will need prior booking, as all the hire equiptment is kept in Ottery St. Mary, and is delivered to our Seaton store daily.

Q: Will I have to pay a deposit?

A: As a precaution against abuse of our equiptment, we do ask for a fully refundable deposit. The amount we require differs from item to item, depending on their value. Your deposit will be refunded to you once you return the machine to us on time, in a reasonably clean condition, and is not broken or damaged due to abuse of the equiptment.

Q: What if I can`t get the item back on time?
A: We always try to be flexible to your needs. If you can not return the equipment by the date/time already agreed on hiring the item we would appreciate a call so we can keep track of our equipment. Any item deemed back late will be subject to an amount of the safety deposit being forfeited. This will be in the order of an extra day hire charge.
